Nepal Homestay Villages – Kristi Village

The Kristi Village Development Committee (VDC) lies in the Gandaki Zone of the southern part of the Kaski District. The village is only 5 kilometres southeast of Pokhara. It is also known as Kristi Nachnechaur.

Visitors will find a number of lodges and hotels or homestays with clean rooms. Kristi Nachnechaur’s proximity to Pokhara means conveniences of the city are accessible if desired.

Attractions and activities
The area has a range of attractions and activities for visitors. Similar to its neighboring VDC Nirmal Pokhari, Kristi’s location and climate means there is an abundance of natural vegetation and greenery amid the forests and farms.

With overlooks to bustling Pokhara and stupa to visit, Kristi also offers views of the Annapurna Range, especially the sacred Mount Machhapuchchhre (Fishtail) at 6,993m, Dhalugiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m). These views are most likely the best from the Kristi View Point.

On their way to Kristi travellers may want to visit the impressive Davis Falls and unique Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. Crossing the Furse Khola River, visitors may want to stay a while on its sandy banks and enjoy the relaxing sounds, sights and smells of the river.

Local life
Most local Kristi people are involved in agriculture and oranges are produced in great quantities, and then sold at the nearby Pokhara markets.

The VDC has one Higher Secondary School and two Primary Schools.

The people are a mixture of ethnicities and religions, with most Hindu with Buddhist and a small number of Christians and Muslims. This mix makes for a diverse range of celebrations and festivals including Dashain, Tihar, Lhosar, Teej, Janai Purnima, Id, and Christmas.

How to get there
Buses run approximately every two hours from Pokhara and if convenience is a priority, taxis are available from Pokhara. Alternatively, visitors may choose to walk, as Kristi is only 5 kilometres from the main city.
